San Jose CA Dentist Holiday Food Drive 2011
Dr. Andrew Fong offered a significant discount on dental services in order to assist people who needed dental care in tandem with helping his community food pantry.
For $39, patients received oral examinations, x-rays and dental cleanings, and all of the proceeds were donated to City Team Ministries.
“I wanted to do my part to ensure that Americans stay healthy and to help those who are going hungry by sponsoring this food drive for the residents of our community,” explains Dr. Fong. He elaborates further by saying $39 will improve a person’s dental health and feed two families at the same time.
“In a troubled economy that affects many Americans, the spirit of giving to others is needed more than ever,” Dr. Fong concludes
San Jose CA Dentist Andrew B. Fong Candy buy back
Dr. Andrew Fong led an anti tooth-decay movement by giving away dollars in exchange for candy. This past Halloween, trick-or-treaters brought their excess candy to Dr. Fong’s office in San Jose and received $1.00 per pound.
“We collected over 30 lbs of candy. The kids were excited about exchanging their candy for money and the parents all thought it was such a great idea.” explains Dr. Fong, adding, “Kids still had all of the fun of trick or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well.”
According to Dr. Fong, all the candy will be donated to “Operation Care and Comfort”, an organization that provides care packages for U.S. military service members, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other conflict regions.
